Following much hard work and effort, we have finally reached launch day.
It is exciting times and I am looking forward to getting started. The website is now fully operational too. Please take the time to look around and do get in contact if we can help you with anything. A lot has happened over the last few weeks with fixed costs in the news again. Lord Justice Jackson has spoken about extending fixed costs across the whole of civil litigation for cases of a value up to £250,000.00. He has urged the government to consider this as a priority. He has even provided a grid of fixed fees in his proposal. This proposal seems to have the support of the government with the Law Gazette reporting today that the government are set to consider Lord Justice Jackson's comments "carefully". There is no doubt that the profession is set for further change and upheaval over the next couple of years. Costs management has barely been given a chance to bed in before proposals have been put forward for fixed costs. Lord Justice Jackson mooted the possibility that this may even be put into place before the end of the year. Watch this space! In other news, there are reports of some city firms charging hourly rates in excess of £1000 per hour. Lack of competition is cited as the reason for such high rates though it would be interesting to see the approach taken to justifying such rates on assessment!
